The Aboriginal Languages Initiative (ALI) 2017-2018 is now open for applications
The First Peoples’ Cultural Council is pleased to announce that the Aboriginal Languages Initiative (ALI) program is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 program year. B.C. First Nations communities and organizations are eligible to apply for up to $35,000 to support community-based projects that contribute to the revitalization and preservation of Aboriginal languages in B.C.
Application Deadline: Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 4:30 pm.
The Application Form, Funding Guide and Budget Form are available on our website at: http://www.fpcc.ca/language/Programs/ALI.aspx. Please review the eligibility requirements before applying to this program.
Emailed or faxed applications will not be accepted. Applications can be mailed to: First Peoples’ Cultural Council

What you need to know about ACE!
Who is it for? All Aboriginal People are encouraged to apply for the ACE™ program.
What is it? The program will include 16 weeks of interactive and practical entrepreneurial learning components along with 16 weeks of start-up & business mentorship and coaching.

Fire Prevention Week is on October 9-15, 2016. The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.”
The Fire Services Department is holding our annual Poster Contest for students during this week wherein students can submit a poster for the chance of winning prizes. 1st place wins a Pre-paid Visa gift card worth $100.00! Please see the attached Teacher Kit and Principle Kit documents for further information.
During Fire Prevention Week the FNESS Fire Services Department is holding our annual BC Poster Contest for First Nations’ students wherein students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 can submit a fire prevention poster. Students that are in grades 9-12 must submit a multimedia project using the Fire Prevention Week’s theme.
As an incentive for students entering the poster contest, there are prizes awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each age category. 1st place receives a $100.00 prepaid visa gift certificate; 2nd place is $50.00 prepaid visa gift certificate; 3rd place is $25.00 prepaid visa gift certificate.
Deadline:
The deadline for schools to submit posters to the FNESS North Vancouver office is November 30, 2016.
