The Splatsin Youth Recreation Program has been back in operation since November 2020. Programming takes place on Monday and Friday evenings for Youth ages 12-18. Because of COVID-19, we have limited the services and activities we are involved in, however, we continue to provide opportunities for Splatsin children and youth to participate in fun, meaningful and beneficial activities.
New in April, our Splatsin Junior Youth Recreation Program is geared towards introducing Splatsin children to the Recreation Program at an early age in order for our staff to develop strong connections for future programming opportunities.
Open to Splatsin youth who are interested in developing their interest and skills in a variety of sports activities. Launched in April, we hope this new program will introduce youth to a sport they enjoy and from there, develop a strong passion for that sport. When this happens, staff will look for ways to get youth more thoroughly involved in their chosen sport(s).
The 16-week Youth Work Program concluded on April 8 with an informal celebration. Youth were celebrated, recognized, and acknowledged for their dedication, commitment, and the work they completed. Tkwamipla7 (Council) were in attendance and shared words of gratitude, appreciation, and encouragement. Youth were involved in some important projects including the Community Christmas Hampers, Renovating the bathrooms/concession stand at the Quilakwa Baseball Filed, and assisting with renovations at the Elders’ Lodge and Lassertie 6-Plex.
