2022 Election

An election on January 10, 2022, to elect Kukpi7 & Tkwamipla7 (Chief & Council) for the 2022-2026 term. All information regarding the election will be posted here according to the timeline outlined in the Splatsin Custom Election Code.

  • September 28: Master Voters List
  • October 1: Mail and post Notice of Nomination
  • October 1: Master Voters List to Electoral Officer
  • November 17: Nomination Meeting
  • November 18: Post Notice of Election
  • November 19: Send Notice of Nomination to Candidates
  • November 26: Withdrawal date
  • December 1: Payment of Nomination Fees & Documentation
  • December 3: Mail ballot packages to off-reserve members
  • January 10: Election for Kukpi7 & Tkwamipla7 2022-2026

List of Candidates

The initial list of nominated candidates was is subject to withdrawals up to and including November 23, 2021. Candidates nominated for both Chief & Council can only run for one position and must advise the Electoral Officer by November 23 which position they will run for. The final list of candidates was published on November 29.

How to nominate a candidate for Kukpi7 & Tkwamipla7

Band members living on-reserve must attend the November 17 meeting to nominate a candidate. Band members living off-reserve must complete the nomination form that will be mailed to you and return by mail or email to the Electoral Officer (see contact information below). If a voter wishes to be nominated as a candidate, they must have a friend or family member nominate them following this process.

Mail-in Ballots

Band members living off-reserve, elders, and vulnerable populations can vote by mail. This is especially useful during the ongoing pandemic to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19. Here’s how it works:

  • Email or phone the Electoral Officer requesting a mail-in package: [email protected] or 1-800-813-2173.
  • Provide your mailing address including city, street address, postal code, and country.
  • A mail-in package will be sent to you with a return envelope and paid postage.
  • Mail-in ballot must be returned to the Electoral Officer by January 10, 2022.
