EOC Update 04: White Rock Lake Fire

Please be advised that IR1/Salmon River is not currently under threat of the White Rock Lake Fire burning Out of Control near Westwold. There have been Evacuation Orders and Evacuation Alerts issued by the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB), the Regional District of the North Okanagan (RDNO), and the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) for affected properties.

Splatsin’s IR1 is within the boundary of the CSRD, however they have not expanded their alert to include this part of Splatsin reserve lands. Community members living on IR1 must remain diligent in preparing for a potential Evacuation Alert or Order. Things you should be doing now include:

• Protecting your home and property from wildfire using the FireSmart Homeowner’s Manual
• Prepare a Grab & Go Kit for each resident of your home
• Plan for temporary housing with family or friends for each resident of your home
• Plan for pet and livestock evacuation
• Know your neighbourhood’s evacuation plan and develop one for your home
• Monitor our website, social media channels, and BC Wildfire for updates
• Download Splatsin’s Alert System app or register for updates

In the event of an Evacuation Alert or Evacuation Order, Splatsin and the RCMP would deliver communication door-to-door to each affected property. Information would also be posted on all of our communication channels.
