Preliminary renovation work is underway at St. Mary’s Church and good progress is being made. Please note that this preliminary work is required prior to completing a final overall design.
Two Splatsin Band Members are on the ground completing this job, including one individual that is interested in pursuing a career as a Red Seal carpenter. The Project Manager is also a Splatsin Band Member who possesses significant construction experience.
The church will be insulated with modern materials that are safe for the public and environmentally friendly. Magnesium oxide (M2O) boards are being considered, which will provide an older look of the original church but possess a much higher resistance to conductive heat flow (R-value).
The Second Public Consultation for the church was successfully held on Friday, April 14, and the summary report for this meeting will be provided to the Splatsin Community for review and to confirm project deliverables.
Regular updates showcasing church renovation progress will be posted on social media.
