Splatsin Welcomes New Staff

Splatsin would like to welcome many new staff members this fall. Here are their brief bios and make sure to say hello if you see them.

Phyllis Jezewsky – Territorial Stewardship Trainee

“Skwest, Phyllis Jezewsky.  I am excited to have started my new position as Territorial Stewardship Trainee. I have over 10 years of experience in a wide range of cultural heritage and archaeological impact assessments in the forestry, transportation, energy, and oil and gas sectors. I have assisted in the archaeology team with project coordination and planning, participating in and supervising in-field archaeological assessments, laboratory cataloguing and analysis, and reporting. I have done the fieldwork and now it is time to enhance my skills forward.  I look forward to learning in my trainee position about Title and Rights and asserting them in our Secwepemc Territory but focusing on asserting our Title and Rights on Splatsin’s traditional territory.”

Kristin Quigg – Certified Education Assistant

“I am very excited to be part of the team at Shihiya School. I have been working with 3-5-year-olds for 16 years. I live in Armstrong with my four kids. I enjoy running, snowboarding and camping.”

Deb Aulisa – Certified Education Assistant

“I am an Education Assistant Teacher who is employed with Shihiya School. I enjoy working with children and all the wonderful staff. I am proud to be a staff member of Shihiya School.”

Gary Hanson – School Bus Driver

“I enjoy working with the fantastic staff at Shihiya School and getting the young personalities to school each day.”

Alex Hubert – Parent-School Liaison

“Thank you again to the Splatsin community for welcoming me in my new role as Parent-School Liaison with the Education Department. I enjoyed getting to know the youth while helping Kyle with the summer program, and I look forward to supporting and advocating for students and families in my new role. I recently moved to the Okanagan from Southern California, where I was born and raised. Before moving to Canada, I spent two years living and working in the small Central American country of Belize as a health educator, where I worked with youth and families in our small village clinic and at the school. I love camping, hiking, kayaking, and biking, and am excited to explore and connect with the natural beauty of this amazing corner of the world.”
