Precautionary Notice – Kendry Creek Fire


The Splatsin Emergency Management Department (EMD) is aware of a fire that started in Kendry Creek, which is deemed to be out of control. BC Wildfire has posted on its website that the size of that fire is at 1.4 hectares.

Please note that no evacuation is currently required. This notice is simply for your knowledge and precaution.

EMD continues to monitor the status of this fire.

If the fires begin to impact Splatsin reserved, EMD advises you to follow these defined evacuation routes such that all members can proceed to safety:

• Primary Evacuation Route: Highway 97 heading west bound towards Falkland; Montee Creek then transition to Highway 1 heading towards Kamloops.

• Secondary Evacuation Route: Highway 9 passing through Kelowna and transition to Highway 97C changing to Highway 5A through Merritt and using Highway 5 to Kamloops. 

 At this moment, everyone is advised to remain calm and to stay tuned for updates as the situation evolves.
