Whirling disease poses a serious threat to our aquatic ecosystems. Protecting our waters is as simple as following these steps:

• Pull the plug! It’s now illegal in B.C. to transport your watercraft with the drain plug in place.
• Clean, Drain, and Dry all boats and equipment before moving between water bodies.

It’s not just about boats—infected fish, mud, and water can spread whirling disease through:

• Motors
• Boots and waders
• Bait buckets
• Swimming floats, coolers, kayaks, paddleboards, and even swimsuits.
