Home / Member News / Meet Your New Addictions Support Worker
Hi! My name is Paul, and I am the new Addictions Support Worker at Splatsin Health Center.
I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and have lived in Vancouver as well as Newfoundland, and I currently reside in Vernon.
My Educational background is in studying Addictions and various Mental Health disciplines at UBC and Stanford University with specializations in Social Psychology, Restorative Justice, and Mindfulness. I am a lifelong learner currently enrolled in the Justice program at Harvard University, yet I believe that lived experience and “boots on the ground” learning are often the best teachers in life and shape us as we progress through life’s journey.
For the past four years I have worked in Treatment Centres, providing group therapies, 12-steps programming, and cultural approaches to addictions and healing. I have a strong focus on Trauma Informed Care, and I believe in Collaboration, Faith, and Community minded traditions with respect to Addictions, Mental Wellness, and Healing.
When I am not working or learning I like to hit the road and enjoy our beautiful creation in BC, by exploring the different parks, scenery, trails, and diverse communities in this awesome Province we live in.
I am very excited to be a part of the Splatsin community. Please feel free to drop in and say hello!
