NOTICE TO SPLATSIN BAND MEMBERS
Vacancy of Tkwamipla7 Position – Phyllis Jezewsky
At a duly convened meeting of the Splatsin Kukpi7 and Tkwamipla7s held on April 1, 2025, the following motion was passed:
It is with respect that we inform the Splatsin Band Members of the vacancy in the Tkwamipla7 position previously held by Phyllis Jezewsky, effective as of March 20, 2025.
Tkwamipla7 Phyllis Jezewsky has been on medical leave since February 3, 2025, and, as a result, has been unable to perform her duties from that date onward.
According to Subparagraph 6(14)(b) of the Splatsin Custom Election Code of February 16, 2016:
“A Chief or Councillor position on the Council shall become vacant if, while in office … the Chief or Councillor is unable to perform the functions of their office for more than six weeks due to illness or other incapacity.”
As such, the position held by Tkwamipla7 Jezewsky became vacant on March 20, 2025.
Furthermore, as per Paragraph 10(34) of the Custom Election Code, a by-election shall only be held if quorum is lost. The vacancy resulting from Tkwamipla7 Jezewsky’s absence does not result in the loss of quorum, and therefore, no by-election will be held.
