Hullcar Mountain FireAugust 12th – 0900 hrs
** K41796 Fire Update **
Yesterday, crews were able to surround the fire with fire guards. Overnight the winds were low and night monitoring operations confirmed that the fire has remained within the fire guards. The fire is not expected to grow outside of the fire guards. The fire is expected to remain at 784 hectares. Smoke will continue to be visible as the fire continues to burn fuels within the fire area.Today, over 70 ground crew will continue to action the fire. They are supported by aircraft. Their objective is to put out fire along the guards. The structure protection units that were deployed on this fire have now been removed.
The EOC will continue to monitor the fire and operations from the ground and air. An update will be provided this evening. The EOC will begin putting out evening updates only beginning tomorrow.
** Evacuation Alerts and Orders **
The August 6 Evacuation Orders have been reduced to Evacuation Alerts for three properties in Splatsin IR#1. Please refer to August 11, 2024 release.
As of now, all properties in Splatsin IR#1 are on Evacuation Alert. The EOC will notify residents of any further changes. Property owners in an Evacuation Alert area may return to their property but must be prepared to evacuate on short notice, if required.
