Hullcar Mountain Fire
August 11th – 2000hrs

** Key Summary **

  • The Evacuation Order issued on August 6 for 4860 HULLCAR RD, 4910 HULLCAR RD, and 5214 CLCAHL RD has been rescinded and downgraded to an Evacuation Alert.

** Evacuation Alerts and Orders **

Following this morning’s update, the Evacuation Order issued on August 6, 2024 for three properties in Splatsin IR#1 has been downgraded to Evacuation Alert, as of August 11th, 17:15.

The Evacuation Order issued for 4860 HULLCAR RD, 4910 HULLCAR RD, and 5214 CLCAHL RD has been rescinded and downgraded to an Evacuation Alert.

As of now, all properties in Splatsin IR#1 are on Evacuation Alert. The EOC will notify residents of any further changes. Property owners in an Evacuation Alert area may return to their property but must be prepared to evacuate on short notice, if required.

** K41796 Fire Update **

The Hullcar Mountain Fire is now listed as BEING HELD.
A wildfire that is listed as Being Held is projected, based on fuel and weather conditions and resource availability, to remain within the current perimeter, control line or boundary.

The fire is currently estimated at 784 Hectares. Increase in fire size is attributed to the successful planned ignition operation that took place on Saturday, August 10 and not due to any additional growth.

There are currently 100 personnel responding to this wildfire. There are currently 3 helicopters responding to this wildfire. There are currently 7 pieces of heavy equipment responding to this wildfire. There are currently 21 structure protection personnel responding to this incident. Large machinery is starting to be released as fire guard construction ends and fire fighting efforts enter the mop up phase.

Smoke and fire activity will continue to be visible from the interior of the fire above Slack Creek until significant amounts of precipitation are received in the area. This smoke and fire activity are well within the fire perimeter and surrounded by previously burnt fuels.

Fire activity has been observed at mostly rank 1 and 2, which means a low vigour surface fire, with some pockets of rank 3 on slopes in the late afternoon, which displays as a moderate vigorous surface fire.

** Weather **

Chance of showers and risk of thunderstorms this evening. Calm overnight and into tomorrow afternoon. Chance of showers and risk of thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon with 10 km/h winds from the east.
