Statement from Kukpi7 Mike Christian and Splatsin Tkwamipla7 on the Hullcar Mountain Wildfire
August 6, 2024 – 2:00 PM
We are deeply concerned about the Hullcar Mountain wildfire, which has rapidly grown to 330 hectares overnight, posing a significant threat to our Splatsin community and surrounding areas. The safety and well-being of our people are our utmost priority.
The current Evacuation Alert issued yesterday for 59 properties in the CSRD’s Electoral Area D remains in effect for the following areas:
• Felix Road• Salmon River Road• Clcahl Road• Hullcar Road• Williams Road
We urge all residents to be prepared and have your Grab & Go bag ready. Please stay tuned for further instructions and updates from local authorities. The BC Wildfire Service is diligently working to contain the fire, and we commend their efforts in these challenging conditions.
The FireSmart team will be conducting house-to-house visits in the Evacuation Alert areas at Salmon River Road and Deep Creek Road. They are available to assist homeowners with reducing wildfire risks. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these resources and visit the CSRD’s FireSmart page for additional information on safeguarding your homes.
We understand the anxiety and stress that comes with such a crisis, especially for those moving livestock and essential items. We ask non-residents to respect the situation by avoiding the area to minimize traffic congestion and allow smooth passage for those under the Evacuation Alert.
We stand united as a community and ask everyone to support each other during this time.
To receive important updates, please be sure to download and install the Voyent Alert! mobile application from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the Hullcar Mountain wildfire. Your safety is our primary concern, and we remain committed to keeping you informed as the situation evolves.
Sincerely,Kukpi7 Mike Christian
