On the late evening of Saturday, August 12, 2023, a helicopter crashed into the Shuswap River with no fatalities.
The Splatsin Emergency Management Department was notified that there may be oil and parts from the helicopter present in the river stream.
Please avoid swimming or fishing in the Shuswap River until the incident is stabilized and that there is no contamination present.
