The Health Career Access Program (HCAP) is an initiative funded by the province to provide post-secondary education in two streams: the Health Care Assistant (HCA) Certificate program & the Mental Health and Addictions (MHSU) Certificate program. The candidate will be paid a full-time wage while attending school (6-12 months).

HCAP is designed to support (First Nation, Métis, & Inuit) participants who are interested in becoming Health Care Assistants or working in a Mental Health & Substance Use worker role, and they will complete one of the certificate programs with a partnering post-secondary institution. Each participant will have a choice to complete their Return of Service (12-month duration) within their community, with Interior Health (IH), or seek opportunities outside IH and their community (Private & Affiliate sites).
