Gill netting scheduled for this evening on Mara Lake is canceled due to the weather.
Yucwmenlúcwu is hopeful to set a gill net for community harvest on Mara Lake this Saturday, August 19, and could use help with the net setting, pulling and, most of all, processing.
Net setting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the provincial park boat launch. Net pulling will be at 6 a.m. on Sunday, August 20 at the boat launch. Processing will tak place late morning on Sunday in Enderby, and we will be teaching people how to fillet salmon.
If we have at least one more person help set and pull nets we can have an observation boat for people to watch and take photos from.
