Each year many people get sick with influenza, which can lead to more serious health complications like pneumonia. Remember, the COVID-19 virus and flu virus are different. It is important to get the flu vaccine even after you have had the COVID-19 vaccine. If you become sick with the flu, you may be more vulnerable to COVID-19. The flu vaccine is safe for everyone six months and older.

The flu vaccine is recommended as the best way to prevent the flu and works best when combined with other preventative measures:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often
  • Cover your sneeze/cough
  • Keep your household and work surfaces clean
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Keep 6′ from others if you or someone else is sick
  • If you’re sick, stay home and call Splatsin Health Services
