Home / COVID-19 Updates / COVID-19 Community Update 78
There are currently 0 active cases and 0 people in self-isolation in our community. We are currently operating in Pandemic Risk Level 3 ‘High’ due to the continued virus transmission in nearby communities.
Splatsin is aligned with BC’s Restart Plan announced on Tuesday, May 25. Indoor gatherings of up to 5 people are now permitted, as are outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people. Recreational travel within the Northern/Interior Regions is permitted, but travel to the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island is restricted until June 15. See the full plan here.
All youth age 12+ are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved for youth. This is an mRNA vaccine just like Moderna. This vaccine is the most effective way to protect your children, your family, and your community against COVID-19.
Your children have two options to receive the vaccine:
Trials of the Pfizer vaccine prove its 100% effectiveness against COVID-19 for youth. Under the Infants Act, youth age 12+ can consent to receive medical treatment without their parents’ approval as long as the healthcare provider has determined that the treatment is in the youth’s best interest and the youth understands the details of treatment, including risks and benefits. You also have the right to refuse treatment. Parents and guardians are encouraged to have this discussion with their children.
Splatsin Health Services is available to answer questions about the vaccine and your health during the week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call (250) 838-9538 to speak with a nurse or to book an appointment to visit in person.
Further to the last community update, band members will be notified of the second dose vaccine clinics as soon as our health team is notified of its arrival. Members who did not receive their first dose will also be invited to book an appointment at this time. Please stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates.
