COVID-19 Community Update 74

There are currently 3-5 people in self-isolation and 0 active cases in our community. We are in Alert Level 3: High.

Members of our community have been exposed to a COVID-19-positive individual from a neighbouring community. Interior Health is in the process of contacting affected individuals with instructions and supports.

If you experience cold or flu-like symptoms, or your symptoms change, call Splatsin Health Services at (250) 838-9538. After hours, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 to speak to a Registered Nurse. If you experience shortness of breath, confusion, chest pain, cannot drink any fluids, or your symptoms are severe, call 9-1-1.

Nearby First Nations and other communities are experiencing active COVID-19 cases. As of today, there are 833 active cases in the Interior Health region. See the numbers by region and more data here: http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/data#Epiapp

Be kind and patient towards all of our community members and continue with the first line of defence:

  • Do not attend outdoor gatherings of more than 10 people or indoor gatherings
  • Do not visit other houses
  • Keep 2 metres between yourself and others outside of your home
  • Wash or sanitize your hands often
  • Wear a mask in public

Vaccinated or not, the community is urged to continue following public health orders. Community members who received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine are approximately 92% protected against the virus. This in addition to the new variants being found in the province means you must continue o be diligent and protect yourself and your loved ones against COVID-19. Click the links below for COVID-19 resources including how to book your vaccine appointment.

The resilience of our ancestors is apparent in The Splatsinac (Splatsin People) today. This pandemic is not the first challenge we’ve faced as a community and it won’t be the last. We will all be a part of the healing process by following the provincial health orders. Kukwstép-kuc for your efforts so far.
