Community COVID-19 Update 90

Waytk (Hello) Splatsinac,

There are currently 10-20 COVID-19-positive individuals and 40-50 in self-isolation in our community. Community members who attended the funeral on Monday are being asked to closely monitor their symptoms and contact Splatsin Health Services at (250) 838-9538 if you feel sick.

Weytk (Hello) Splatsinac,

Please read this important update regarding office closures and our recommendation to stay at home until Tuesday, January 25 at 8:30 am. As many of you are aware, there is a COVID-19 outbreak in our community. There are some people that have chosen to share their health status on social media in regards to COVID-19. Please be advised that personal health matters are strictly confidential and that Kukpi7 & Tkwamipla7, in addition to Splatsin Health Services, adheres to a high level of confidentiality.

Cases in our community have tripled in less than a week, and the number of individuals in self-isolation has doubled. Splatsin Health Services is reminding you of the importance of following preventative measures:

  • Stay at home if possible until Tuesday.
  • Postpone gatherings to a later date.
  • Wash your hands often or use sanitizer.
  • Wear a face mask in public indoor spaces and keep a 6’ physical distance.

According to 97% of doctors, vaccination is still one of the most effective tools to combat the spread and lessen the severity of these viruses. The new strains are increasingly airborne, which is a good reason to limit physical interaction. The Enderby area remains one of the lowest vaccination rates in the province, making it difficult to move forward.

Kukstamc,

Kukpi7 Doug Thomas
