SDC is pleased to announce the purchase and application of two new pieces of heavy machinery for its Yucwmenlúcwu Construction division.

On May 24, 2023, SDC acquired a John Deere 324G Skid Steer and a John Deere 50G Excavator along with a trailer to pull both units (either separately or together) from the John Deere dealership in Vernon, BC.

These units are already in use and are operated by Splatsin Band Members on several Yucwmenlúcwu Construction projects.

The Skid Steer is currently being used on a sewer line construction project in Kelowna and was recently used to complete a project at UBC Okanagan. It’s next scheduled for a project based in Lake Country.

The excavator is currently in action moving concrete pads and installing a culvert at the Band’s Lassertie subdivision property and will next head to the Monashee Community Forest to repair a forestry road.

“This new equipment provides an opportunity to train Splatsin Band Members on smaller machinery,” stated Grahame Go, SDC CEO. “This is a first step in their career development, preparing them to use larger equipment on more challenging terrain next year.”
