A Message from Kukpi7 Christian: September 2020

Waytk:

It’s September and we are still under a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As parents, grandparents, and caregivers for children, many of you are worried about school this fall and wondering what to do. I have asked myself the same question. If I was a parent at this time I would be worried and wondering if I would allow my children to attend school. I would trust the teachers and the education system to provide all necessary preventative health measures for my children’s safety, but ultimately, you as the caregiver and parent for your children need to make sure you are

comfortable with your decision. Ask your children as they have been living in a world that has taken away their freedom to socialize with friends. School is important for education but also it is important for social interaction between children.

This harvesting season finds us in a situation where the salmon are not readily available. This makes the harvesting of large animals important to our food supply over the coming fall and winter. Many of you will be harvesting fresh vegetables from your gardens. Find different ways to preserve the food; dry, freeze and smoking.

We are still amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Remember to be safe: wash your hands; stay home if you feel sick; keep your social bubble small and; don’t go to large gatherings of people. When you are in public wear a mask.

There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that some will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination. The Elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river. Keep our eyes open and our heads above water. See who is in there with you. And celebrate.

At this time in our history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all, ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word “struggle” from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and celebration. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for!
