Slcwayaca (moose), Ygalcka (caribou), and Tsi7 (deer) Knowledge Sharing Forum
All Splatsin community members are invited to participate in and share historic and contemporary stories about Moose, Caribou, Deer, and Elk through interviews on April 7th and 8th, and with presentations and round-table discussions on April 9th.
On Thursday, April 7 from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm there will be a series of one-hour interviews with Knowledge Keepers regarding stories about wildlife and hunting practices. Honorariums provided.
On Friday, April 8 from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm there will be a series of one-hour interviews with Hunters of all ages regarding hunting stories, experiences, and practices. There will also be informal presentations and discussions about Splatsin’s caribou recovery activities, light snacks provided.
On Saturday, April 9 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm there will be presentations given throughout the day about indigenous and non-indigenous knowledge systems, management and stewardship of Caribou, Moose, Deer and Elk.
There will also be guest presenters, including Provincial & Federal Wildlife Biologists, Conservation Officers, and Caribou Biologists. This will be followed by a community round-table discussion about wildlife stewardship. Door prizes and lunch are provided on this day.
