Splatsin Community Camp

Join your community on Monday, June 21 to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day together at Pillar Lake! RSVP to:

Include in your RSVP: If you need a ride or if you plan to camp on Monday night as spaces are limited for both.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

  • 8:30-9 am: Gather at the Community Centre
  • 9:15 am: Depart for Pillar Lake (Buses leave from both Community Centre and Jackpine)
  • 10 am: Crafters arrive and begin set up
  • 11 am – 5 pm: Canoe and pontoon boat rides
  • 11:30 am: Bagged lunch handed out
  • 12 pm: Depart for Pillar Lake hike
  • 1-5 pm: Canoe rides
  • 3:30 pm: Dinner (Indian Tacos Food Truck)
  • 4-6 pm: Powwow drumming and dancing
  • 6 pm: Clean up and depart for home

There will also be smudging and prayer bundles throughout the day.

  • Elizabeth Brown – Beading
  • Chelsea Jones – Pine needle baskets
  • Stephanie Harry – Manicures/pedicures
  • Duane Thomas – Soap making
  • Crystal Morris – Traditional medicine

TRANSPORTATION

There is a shuttle service to Pillar Lake available with limited seating capacity from the Community Centre. Filled on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be lifejackets available for people who don’t have their own.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

This organized event will be adhering to the latest provincial health orders announced on June 15. There will be mandatory hand-washing and sanitizing stations. This event is limited to 50 people.
