Waytkp Everybody!
August was National Water Month, and although it is now almost September, it is never too late to give thanks.
Séwllkwe (water) the giver of life and held sacred for it is the central component of Secwepemc spirituality. The greatest gift Tgalt Kukpi7 has given us was the sweat lodge, our place for prayer, cleansing and healing.
In the beginning of time, the world was made up of water and the earth emerged from it and can be the gentlest trickle or powerful enough to bust through rock.
Everything living has water within it, humans are of earth and water and is our bloodlines to our mother, the earth.
Water comes in cycles and has four forms, flowing, frozen, mist, and rain.
The journey of water comes from the sky to the mountains to ocean which creates many changes to the earth’s surface as it goes, being described as T’utl, changer of energy.
Séwllkwe should be respected and treated with the utmost care and protect the rivers and creeks from pollutants.
Be an ambassador for water, so that it can continue to look after us for generations.
