The Splatsin community, in partnership with the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (IRSHDC) at UBC and the Union of BC Indian Chiefs (UBCIC), have curated an online exhibition to mark the 40th anniversary of the Indian Child Caravan. The digital exhibition highlights the tremendous impacts that the Caravan has had on the community, child welfare in British Columbia and Canada, and celebrates the work of Indigenous youth, families, and communities who have fought hard for Indigenous children.
All Splatsin community and family members are welcome to attend this commemorative virtual event to hear from Kukpi7 Wayne Christian, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, Aki-Kwe (IRSHDC), and Chief Don Tom and Kukpi7 Judy Wilson from UBCIC as they discuss the legacy of the Caravan and its lasting impacts on the community and beyond. The IRSHDC will also share detailed information about the digital exhibition and ongoing opportunities for the community to engage with and inform the exhibition.
