Some band members living on-reserve have recently tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals and others who have been identified as close contacts are in self-isolation for 14 days.
Self-isolation means that you stay at home inside your bedroom, only leaving to use the washroom. Meals should be brought to your bedroom door by someone you live with. Splatsin is delivering food supplies to people in self-isolation. People ordered to self-isolate must monitor their symptoms and contact the Splatsin Health Centre at (250) 838-9538 if anything changes. After hours, call HealthLink BC at 811.
People in self-isolation should print this sign and place it in a visible area near the main door to your house. This will also be delivered door-to-door if you don’t have access to a printer.
Whether you are in self-isolation or not, this is not the time to host or attend gatherings or travel to other communities. Today, Kukpi7 & Tkwamipla7 have signed a Band Council Resolution (BCR) outlining the rules in effect until there are zero active COVID-19 cases in the community. Among other things, the BCR states that gatherings with people who do not live with you are banned until further notice.
Band members are encouraged to place this poster in a visible area near the main door to your house reminding visitors that gatherings are banned at this time. This will also be delivered door-to-door if you don’t have access to a printer.
Splatsin is introducing a new Pandemic Risk Chart to better help outline the organization’s response to COVID-19. Whenever Splatsin moves into a new alert level, band members will be notified on all channels including the website, social media, email, and door-to-door delivery. In all alert levels, Splatsin meets or exceeds public health orders This chart is subject to change.
The resilience of our ancestors is apparent in The Splatsinac (Splatsin People) today. This pandemic is on the first challenge we’ve faced as a community and it won’t be the last. We will all be a part of the healing process by following the provincial health orders. Kukwstép-kuc for your efforts so far.
