Hello!
My name is Olivia, and I will be working as the FireSmart Coordinator for Splatsin this season, alongside the Emergency Program Coordinator, Shawn Tronson. I am very grateful for the opportunity to build connections with members of the community and work with a great team of professionals to support wildfire preparedness, prevention, and mitigation on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwepemc.
After graduating from Thompson Rivers University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, I began my passion for environmental work and community involvement through working on wildlife conservation projects with the goal of protecting wildlife and keeping communities safe. With this passion and experience, I am eager to expand my knowledge of wildfire ecology and support Splatsin in becoming a wildfire resilient community.
Outside of work, you can find me in the outdoors! I am an avid outdoorswoman and enjoy backcountry hiking trips, mountain biking, alpine skiing, gardening, fishing, paddleboarding and playing soccer. I value spending time with my family and friends and am an animal lover as well.
This season, I will be the main point of contact for the FireSmart Program and will be involved in public education, assessments, and mitigative work to reduce Splatsin community risk from wildfires.
I look forward to making new connections in the community and working alongside others in the community.
