Splatsin Youth Work Experience Program

Splatsin Youth ages 15-29 can develop new skills and earn money doing it. We are seeking a minimum of 10 individuals to participate. This program is designed to improve participant’s employability through hands-on training, skills development, and labour in a variety of career fields. This program will run for a duration of 16 weeks from November until March with an average of 20 hours per week. Apply before November 18:

Youth can apply for the work experience program two ways:

Through a written application

Interested individuals are requested to submit a one page essay outlining why they are interested in this opportunity.

Examples of topics could include:

  • Potential skills and experience you wish to acquire through the project
  • Explaining your commitment to the community or desire to help
  • Discussing how your participation could assist in the betterment of Splatsin and its infrastructure for the members
  • Future benefits you hope to achieve through their involvement in the program (ie. letter of recommendation or project planning experience for future employment or education, experience on a resume)

Through a verbal application

Interested individuals may request to submit a verbal application. This would include an informal meeting/conversation with Youth Program staff to discuss their interest in the program and desire to assist in improving the community and its infrastructure. This process will allow potential participants an easy and less formal way to apply. As well as reduce the barriers that lack of experience in the writing of cover letters and resumes can present. Additionally, this would make for a quick and easy hiring process as we are limited on time.
