Company Background

The Splatsin are the most southern tribe of the Secwepemc Nation, the largest Interior Salish speaking First Nation in Canada whose aboriginal territory stretches from the BC/Alberta border near the Yellowhead Pass to the plateau west of the Fraser River, southeast to the Arrow Lakes and to the upper reaches of the Columbia River.  We are currently recruiting a Director of Finance to join our team of professionals.

Position Purpose

Under the direction of the Senior Executive Advisor, this position is responsible for the planning and controlling the Financial Operations of the Splatsin in all aspects of financial management including accounting functions, financial and cash flow management, banking practices, financial reporting, investment management, grant management, budgeting and audit processes including determination of cost-effective use of outsourcing.

Position requirements:

• A recognized accounting designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) is required
• An undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Commerce is preferred
• Five years of experience in a finance management capacity
• Must be able to prepare financial analysis and data for Chief & Council and Senior Executive Advisor
• An understanding of Splatsin’s core values and interests and the current First Nations political and legal landscape.
• Functional with software such as Xyntax, Sage, and MS Office

The successful candidate should have:

• Good interpersonal skills including the ability to build successful relationships across diverse backgrounds.
• High ethical standards with the ability to deal tactfully with sensitive issues and always maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to negotiate.
• Valid BC Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract.
