Job Posting: Bus Driver (PT) – Shihiya School


Company Background

The Splatsin are the most southern tribe of the Secwepemc Nation, the largest Interior Salish speaking First Nation in Canada whose aboriginal territory stretches from the BC/Alberta border near the Yellowhead Pass to the plateau west of the Fraser River, southeast to the Arrow Lakes and to the upper reaches of the Columbia River.  Shihiya School is currently recruiting a Part-Time Bus Driver to join our team of professionals. 

Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe operation of a school bus and other vehicles and perform associated and operational duties in the safe transportation of students.  The bus driver will be responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, maintaining an established route and schedule, preforming pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily, fueling, cleaning and washing bus and reporting bus/servicing requirements.

Position requirements:

  • Valid Class 2 driver’s license with Air Brakes
  • Knowledge of the Splatsin Community is valued
  • Proven safe driving practices
  • First Aid Certification
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Satisfactory driver’s check
