FNESS Emergency Training


First Nations Emergency Services Society is looking for community members from First Nations communities to engage in training opportunities to build community capacity, assist other communities in need and/or pursue work with the British Columbia Wildfire Service (BCWS).

Some of the courses that could be offered include:

  • S-100: Basic Fire Suppression
  • S-185: Fire Entrapment Avoidance
  • S-212: Communications
  • S-213: Use of Bulldozers
  • S-230: Single Resource Leader/Introduction to Supervision
  • S-235: Ignition Operations
  • S-211: The Fire Environment for Fire Fighters
  • S-290: Principles of Fire Behaviour
  • S-115: Structure Protection Program (SPP) Training
  • S-270: Helicopter Use and Safety
  • S-390: Advanced Fire Behaviour (Red Book)
  • S-241: Fire Assessment
  • ICS 100: Incident Command
  • Wildlife/Danger Tree Assessor Course – Wildfire Module (Prerequisites Required)
  • Power Saw Operator (Basic Chainsaw Operator)
  • Danger Tree Faller
  • Rapid Damage Assessment (RDA) Training
  • Home Partners Program (HPP): Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Training
  • Local FireSmart Representative (LFR) Training
  • First Aid – Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement, or 3
  • Archaeological Site Identification
  • Project Management for Operational Project Implementation, Monitoring and Reporting
  • Drone Training
  • Lightship Training
  • Forest Fuel Management Training
  • Outdoor Orientation/Wilderness Survival Awareness

Once Splatsin has a list of potential training participants, we will send an expression of interest to FNESS and move forward with arranging to deliver the training to the community.
